Celebrating the Auspicious Occasion of Ashar 15 (Asar Pandhra)
Honoring Nepal’s Cultural and Agrarian Heritage
On the 15th of Ashar, we joyfully mark an auspicious and deeply rooted tradition in Nepali culture — National Paddy Day (राष्ट्रिय धान दिवस). This event honors the beginning of the rice planting season, symbolizing abundance, gratitude, and harmony with nature. Traditionally, communities come together to plant rice, sing folk songs, and share dahi chiura (curd and beaten rice) as a blessing for a fruitful harvest.
At Kadampa, we embrace this day not only as a cultural festival but also as a time to reflect on interdependence, gratitude toward the Earth, and the simple joy of shared effort. Like planting seeds in the field, this occasion reminds us of the power of planting seeds of virtue, compassion, and harmony in our lives.
